There are many reasons why our prayers get no reply. The reasons are legion, and they can vary. Discovering how to pray with positive faith will enable you to pray in a way that garners answers. But before we dive in there, let's look at some reasons why some prayers get no reply.

Because there are so many reasons, we would do well to never seek to lock God into a box and demand that He always operate or respond a certain way. Each prayer need—each scenario we face—requires us to look through the various reasons why prayers go unresolved and then aim to address them. A reason that showed up in one situation may not be the same reason for the next.

Similar to how David sought God and His wisdom and strategy for each and every battle he faced, we are to do the same. (Please see 1 Samuel 23:1-14, 1 Samuel 30:8-9, 2 Samuel 2:1-2, 2 Samuel 5:17-21, 2 Samuel 5:22-25, 2 Samuel 21:1.) 

David knew he couldn’t take the identical approach into every city he set out to conquer. If he did, he would lose more times than not. 

Neither can we. 

Every battle, every problem, every prayer request we have requires individual attention, introspection and revelation. The Christian life is an every-day experience. It’s not a “push play and go.” When we get too lazy (ahem…I mean—busy) to engage God every single day in every single pursuit and opt rather for applying the same formula to each separate thing, we will find our prayers bouncing off of the walls of our war room rather than penetrating through them. 

Prayer isn’t a process we master one day and then use on rinse & repeat. 

What worked for one situation will most likely not work for the next. Ask David about his battles. He had to constantly change his plan. Your prayer closet list or notes posted to your refrigerator may prove successful in one scenario but not in another. Your prayerful journaling or free-writing may work well for one need in providing you with direction but not in another. That binding and loosing of demons and angels may work great for one situation but not for another.
