Attracting People to Your Business
You attract people to your business through advertising, giving, and publicity. Advertising is consistently telling as many of the “right people” as possible how your product or service solves their problems. Giving is giving away samples of your product or service, which allows potential customers to try it before purchase. Most people, when they first hear about your business, have no clue if they can trust you to deliver what you promise. And finally, publicity is about people talking to others about your company, product, or service.
Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom... -Matthew 4:23
So, in other words, Jesus was attracting people to Him by advertising His point of view of the Kingdom of God. He was on an advertising campaign, telling as many of the right people as possible how He had the solution to their problems. In the same manner, this is what your business will be doing. Your goal is to go out to the places where your potential customers will be and spread the message of how great your product or service is. Today, those places may be social media, local events, and so on.
Jesus went about… healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. -Matthew 4:23
Continuing further in Matthew 4:23, we see Jesus using the principle of giving away samples of His services to attract people to follow Him. Once you have tasted being healed, you will surely want to know more about this guy Jesus claiming to be the Son of God, with all the answers to your problems.
And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatic, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them. -Matthew 4:24
Lastly, Jesus demonstrates the publicity component in Matthew 4:24. Jesus was so successful with His advertising campaign and His giveaway strategy that other people started talking about Him and what He had to offer. Notice before the publicity started, Jesus first had to advertise and give away. If you want great publicity, you too must advertise and give away first. If the product or service is great, people will start talking, which will lead to sales.
Attracting people to your business through advertising, giving, and publicity is the first principle in Marketing the Jesus Way. Tomorrow, we will discuss the second principle.
