25 Powerful Promises From GodSample
DAY THREE: Inheriting the Kingdom
The first statement of Jesus’ first recorded sermon contains two promises hinged to one condition.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:3)
God expects poverty of spirit in those who approach Him for salvation, a willingness to admit moral and spiritual bankruptcy without His intervention—the gripping realization that no one can become good enough to earn eternal life. Understanding this truth is the hinge upon which a grand and glorious door swings open. God’s Word translation is one of the best:
“Blessed are those who recognize they are spiritually helpless. The kingdom of heaven belongs to them.”
The first promise is a state of “blessedness,” abundant happiness—being enriched with benefits from above, spiritually prosperous, and highly favored of God.
The second promise is inheriting “the kingdom of heaven”—and not just in the world to come. Right here, right now, a heavenly presence overflows our hearts with divine love, joy, and peace. The King releases heaven’s power and we are delivered, healed and transformed.
The key to abiding victory is the daily declaration, “Your kingdom come; Your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven,” until God’s kingdom fully manifests globally.
Power proclamation: Because I willing to admit that I am spiritually bankrupt without God, the kingdom of heaven has become my inheritance, both now and forevermore.
