UNCOMMEN: Father FiguresSample
You Have Been Called F-A-T-H-E-R
The “F” in father stands for “Faithful.”
Almost anyone can be a father, but a Faithful Father is one that requires effort. It requires wisdom, prayer, and effort toward being there for your children through the good times and bad. There are days when that slightly balding, dad joke telling, sport-watching, dad short wearing guy just wants to take a nap. The Faithful ones will always give up the nap to invest in their children.
The “A” in father stands for “Action.”
Here’s to all those fathers of action out there that get their hands dirty in the role of fatherhood. From inhaling a pound of sawdust from “helping” with the pinewood derby car to running a 5K. The fathers of action know no bounds as they will play hopscotch, board games or do a Bible lesson with their children.
The “T” in father stands for “Teacher.”
Life is full of lessons, and that applies to adults as well as children. Be on the lookout for that teachable moment no matter the situation. God will open doors for you to speak truth to your children, but you need to be ready to do so. The strange thing is your children are looking for you to speak truth into their lives as well.
The “H” in father stands for “Holy.”
As only God can be genuinely Holy, this is a high bar to set for fathers. But since we are called to be more like Jesus and less like ourselves, it is a mark to shoot for. Your children are looking for a Godly example in their lives, and you are it. So you need to be reading and studying God’s word, so you can know what the standard you and your children should be aiming for is.
The “E” in father stands for “Encouraging.”
Just like you and I, your children are not going to get it right all the time. But they still need a cheerleader that wants to see them win. Encouraging them during the good times and bad, lets them know that things are going to be alright.
This is why it’s important to study God’s word, so you can let them know there will be trails and that God is there for you and them.
The “R” in father stands for “Role Model.”
You may be a good one, and you may be a horrible one. But the fact is, you are a role model to your children. God has blessed you with the responsibility of being a father. You have been called to a higher purpose than when you may have been single.
Seek Godly wisdom and become the father God always meant for you to be.

About this Plan
