"There is a place where fear has to face the God you know." A bad diagnosis? A troubled marriage? A wayward child? A financial setback? Life happens, and it is not always easy. There are disappointments, uncertainties and tragedies. What then? How do we respond? 

King David understood. “Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad?” Psalm 43:5a (NLT) We can relate to him and how he wondered where to go with his discouragement, fear and sadness. Where do you go with your fear and worry? How do you respond to disappointment or bad news? 

David answered his own questions in Psalm 43:5b. David understood he was not alone. We, too, can remind ourselves we are not alone. We serve a Heavenly Father who experienced pain, rejection and bad news. He understands, and He can provide the comfort and reassurance we need. 

It comes down to a choice. God said He will never leave us nor forsake us. Will we believe Him? Will we trust He has a plan for us, one to prosper and not harm? Will we acknowledge He goes before us and will be the lamp unto our feet? 

Often it is in a time of great weakness we experience God’s grace…His strength. The Apostle Paul learned this lesson when he struggled with what he described as a “thorn in his side.” He asked God to take it away three times. He received his answer in 2 Corinthians 12:9a.

The next time you face disappointment or uncertainty, remind yourself who you belong to. Put your hope in God, and Let Him show you how you can lay this down ‘cause you’re not alone.
