True North: Hatchet Day

DAY 5 OF 5

GOD'S PROMISE TO ALL

Jack’s Hatchet is great! I love the way it looks. I love how excited he is about it. I’m excited that it looks just like the hatchet he had in his mind the whole time we were reading his book. It is a really great promise, but it isn’t the biggest promise I’ll make to him. Throughout his life, I will promise him much bigger things. Promises that will affect the way he lives his life, but more importantly, promises that will affect the generations that are to come.

God is a good Father. He has made promises to His people since the beginning. By some accounts, there are over 3400 promises from God throughout the Bible, and not one of them has failed according to Joshua 23:14. In fact, in Psalm 89:34, God promises to keep all of His promises to us.

I don't know where you are in your walk with God. Perhaps He's given you a vision for a BIG promise, something that he wants to do through you or do for you. Maybe He hasn't given you that big promise. Perhaps you're looking to trust Him for wisdom, healing, or peace in your life. I am confident God will fulfill His word because He has already given us something so magnificent. It is a promise He has already fulfilled and it affects your eternity and my eternity.

Because of our flesh, we are all born as sinners, and as Romans 6:23 clarifies, the wage of those sins is death. In the Old Covenant, there was a sacrificial system to atone, or pay, for our sins. But God, in His infinite generosity and grace, promised over 400 times in the Old Testament of a savior, who would redeem us all. God delivered on that promise through His son Jesus Christ. His promise is that, whoever chooses Christ as their payment for sin, will have eternal life.

I challenge you to spend some time in prayer with your Heavenly Father. Ask Him how He might want you to start small, choose wisely, and stay sharp. Pray about any BIG promises on the horizon for you. Know that He promises to be with you every step of the way, and we know this for the Lord has already given us much more than we deserve.

Day 4

About this Plan

True North: Hatchet Day

How do we handle the promises and gifts we are given by God? Can promises and gifts from our Father be misused? Do we need to be trained in how to use them? You may have never asked these questions, yet we all need to. "Hatchet Day" is a plan inspired by an experience between father and son.
