The Lame Beggar Healed
1Now Peter and John were #See Luke 18:10 going up to the temple at #Ps. 55:17 the hour of prayer, #ch. 10:3, 30; Matt. 27:46; [1 Kgs. 18:29]the ninth hour.#3:1 That is, 3 p.m. 2And a man #ch. 14:8 lame from birth was being carried, #[Luke 16:20] whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple that is called the Beautiful Gate #[John 9:8]to ask alms of those entering the temple. 3Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked to receive alms. 4And Peter directed his gaze at him, as did John, and said, “Look at us.” 5And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them. 6But Peter said, #2 Cor. 6:10 “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. #[ch. 9:34]In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!” 7And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. 8And #ch. 14:10; Isa. 35:6leaping up, he stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. 9And #ch. 4:16, 21all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10and recognized him as the one who sat at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, asking for alms. And they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
Peter Speaks in Solomon’s Portico

To this we are witnesses. 16And #[ver. 6] his name—by #[John 1:12] faith in his name—has made this man strong whom you see and know, and the faith that is #[1 Pet. 1:21]through Jesus#3:16 Greek him has given the man this perfect health in the presence of you all.
17“And now, brothers, I know that #ch. 13:27; [ch. 26:9; Luke 23:34; John 16:3; 1 Cor. 2:8; 1 Tim. 1:13]you acted in ignorance, as did also your rulers. 18But what God #See ch. 2:23 foretold #ch. 17:3; 26:22, 23; [Heb. 2:10]; See Luke 24:26, 27 by the mouth of all the prophets, that #See Luke 9:20 his Christ would #Matt. 17:12; Luke 22:15; 24:46; Heb. 13:12suffer, he thus fulfilled. 19#See ch. 2:38 Repent therefore, and #See Luke 22:32 turn back, that #Ps. 51:1, 9; Isa. 43:25; 44:22; Col. 2:14your sins may be blotted out, 20that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ #ch. 22:14; 26:16appointed for you, Jesus, 21#[ch. 1:11; Luke 24:26] whom heaven must receive until the time for #[Matt. 17:11; Rom. 8:21] restoring all the things about which #Luke 1:70God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets long ago. 22Moses said, ‘The Lord God will raise up for you #ch. 7:37, cited from Deut. 18:15, 18, 19 a prophet like me from your brothers. You shall listen #Matt. 17:5to him in whatever he tells you. 23And it shall be that every soul who does not listen to that prophet #Lev. 23:29shall be destroyed from the people.’ 24And #ch. 13:20; 1 Sam. 3:20; Heb. 11:32all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and those who came after him, also proclaimed these days. 25#See ch. 2:39 You are the sons of the prophets and of #See Rom. 9:4, 5 the covenant that God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, #Cited from Gen. 22:18; See Gen. 12:3‘And in your offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed.’ 26#Rom. 1:16; 2:9; 15:8; [Mark 7:27] God, #ver. 22 having raised up his servant, sent him to you first, #ver. 25 to bless you #Rom. 11:26; [Ezek. 3:19]; See Matt. 1:21by turning every one of you from your wickedness.”
