Day 3 - The Blood of the Lamb

Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death. (NASB)

Let’s break this verse down.

“They,” in context, is you and I and those who have walked with Jesus before us.

And “him,” in context, is the enemy.

We overcome the enemy “because of the blood of the Lamb.” Our starting place is Christ’s victory on the cross. We start at victory, and as we continue on we manifest His victory here on earth. We are ambassadors of His Kingdom as we minister His forgiveness, healing, love, grace, truth, and goodness.

“And because of the word of their testimony.” When we share about the victorious things that God is doing in the here and now, our words become prophetic. Revelation 19:10“…For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” (NKJV)

When we share what God has done in our lives, those words become prophetic for anyone who has ears to hear. The Bible is telling us that if God will do it for us, He will do it for the next child of His. When we share about His amazing works we are proclaiming that He will do it again for the next person. He is good.

“And they did not love their life even when faced with death.” In our American culture, it may be hard to fathom the threat of losing our lives for our faith, but this is happening all over the world daily. (A simple Google search of “Christian martyrs worldwide,” may be eye-opening.)

But the Apostle Paul’s words echo in eternity, “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.” (Galatians 2:20)

We’re not living for ourselves, we’re living for Jesus. We’re living to make His name known, and there is evil in this world. We overcome the evil one by knowing that we love Christ more than our own lives, “even when faced with death.”

Prayer: God, empower me to live in Your victory, share Your testimonies, and live for You more than I live for myself.
