The Wisdom of Remembering & the Wisdom to Forget

Ziua 10 din 12

Remember your suffering fellow believers

In several New Testament letters, the apostle Paul assures his readers that he remembers them constantly in his prayers, and he urges them to do the same. Hebrews 13:3 explains why we should remember people who are imprisoned or mistreated for their faith: “since you also are in the body.” This phrase refers to “the body of Christ,” which is a common term for the worldwide church. If you believe in Jesus Christ, you automatically become a member of this universal church. Being a child of God makes you a spiritual brother or sister of other believers. This also implies that “if one member suffers, all suffer together.” So, if fellow believers suffer for their faith, we should remember them in prayer and show compassion, if we have the opportunity.

Being a member of a local church is a great way to practice the communion of believers. But modern media also give us the opportunity to hear about the suffering of brothers and sisters worldwide. Do you remember them in your prayers?
