David’s Greatest Asset

Worshipping & Loyal

Out of the 150 Psalms in the Bible, 79 Psalms [more than half] were written by David. David had a worshipping heart. A lot of times, when the soul is seeking to worship God, the flesh is weak. In fact, the Bible describes it as a constant battle. We struggle in our flesh; we are tired and the flesh is weak. But not David—his soul and his flesh were excited to worship God [Ps.63]. David was a classic worshipper.

The Psalmist in Psalm 119:164 says, “I will praise you seven times a day because all your regulations are just.” Can I challenge you to try this for the next seven days. Dedicate five minutes to worship God at seven different times each day.

David even set up a choir to worship God twenty-four hours  a day. David would play the harp and the evil spirit troubling Saul would stop. God inhabits the praises of His people. When we worship, God's presence fills the room and fills our lives. And when God's light comes in, darkness has to go. Make worship a habit.

David had a loyal heart. Interestingly, a loyal heart was something David prayed for also. “Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.” Ps.51:10. Sadly, loyalty is something that is becoming very scarce in our time. But loyalty is always rewarded by heaven. David remained loyal to Jonathan even after he died. Some people are only 'loyal' to people who they can benefit from. But not David, he remained loyal even when Jonathan could no longer profit him.

David was even loyal to Saul and this was the reason he kept running away from Saul [who was trying to kill him]. David was not running because he could not protect himself. He fled  because he knew that if he had to protect himself, he may have to kill Saul. “...David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand against the Lord's anointed, and be guiltless?”  1 Sam.26:9.  A lot of people are complicating their destinies just by missing this truth that David points out. David’s heart was loyal to God.

Thought: What is the Holy Spirit stirring up in your heart? Talk to God about it and commit to a new direction – a God direction.

Prayer: Father, please give me a new heart, and put a new spirit in me. Take out the stony, stubborn heart and give me a tender, responsive heart, in Jesus Name [Ezekiel 36:26]

David’s Greatest Asset

God pays close attention to the heart, yours and mine. In fact, the heart determines most things spiritually. Your heart can qualify or disqualify you before God. This is why God instructs that, "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." Your heart is your greatest asset and you have to pay close attention to what flows in and out of it.
