The World Needs Healing - Disciple Makers Series #10Sample
The Harvest is Plentiful but the Laborers are Few
This is the beginning of a passage where Jesus sends His disciples out into the towns and villages.
It starts with Jesus showing them how He ministered in the towns and villages – healing and preaching.
Jesus challenges them to see what a big harvest there is out there – but they cannot do it themselves. They must pray.
Harvest time does not start with work, it starts with prayer. It asks God to release people in every place to start sharing His good news. That needs to be our prayer first as well. Start with prayer. Ask God to open hearts around you to hear. Ask God to show you who these people are – and how to share the Good News with them.
Time to Pray
Father, we start with wanting to do rather than wanting to pray. Why is that so hard for us? I know that I need to pray more for people to hear. You are speaking to the people of my community and I pray that they will have ears to hear and a heart to listen and obey. I pray that I will have eyes to see those who want to hear Your Good News. Then give me a boldness to share. In Jesus’ name I pray Amen.

About this Plan
Matthew writes to God’s people and walks them on a journey that will take them from where they are to be Disciple Makers. This is the tenth of 27 devotional plans walking us through the book of Matthew. Jesus shows His disciples how to reach out to a broken world – their world. Then He sends them out to touch it with the Kingdom truths they have learned.
