Recovery Day 16
Mark 8: 22…they begged him to touch the man and heal him. 23 Jesus took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village…
Amazingly the first touch from Jesus was not for the man's physical healing but for his emotional and psychological healing. Jesus could have instructed the people that brought the blind man to take him out of the city. But instead the Bible tells us that Jesus held his hand and led him out. This singular action was Jesus’ way of telling the man, “I am with you!” This man had been emotionally battered but Jesus associated and related with the man and took him by the hand. Jesus did not drag the man out; he led him out. Can you imagine Jesus holding your hand and how much comfort it would bring to you? Nothing else would matter at that point. Jesus wants to hold your hand but you have to follow Him.
This man literarily followed Jesus blindly. He could not see and he did not know where Jesus was taking him. There will be seasons in every believer’s journey where you will literally have to follow Jesus blindly. You cannot tell where He is going. It does not feel right, He is taking you out of you comfort zone, and away from everything familiar. All you need to know at such times is that it is Jesus leading you and you follow. The people closest to you will think you have lost it but just keep following Jesus.
Mark 8: 24 “The man looked around. “Yes,” he said, “I see people, but I can’t see them very clearly. They look like trees walking around.” God has doubtlessly started a work in you and He wants you to be honest about every stage of your full recovery. Do not think you are obligated to make Jesus look good. Jesus is not intimidated or insecure about where you are on your journey to full recovery. He loves you and He wants you to say it as it is, so that your recovery can be full. You have to be true to yourself otherwise you would not get the help you need. There is no shame in asking God for help or for a second touch.
Thought: Are you willing to follow Jesus blindly?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are the lamp to my feed and the light to my path. As You show me Your way, I make a commitment to walking with You no matter how uncomfortable it is, in Jesus Name. Amen!
