The Union soldiers who fought in the American Civil War experienced some unbelievable hardships. But what sustained them was the knowledge that they were saving the country and helping to end slavery in America.
Have you had a hard life? You know, suffering is bad enough. But what makes pain really unbearable is when it has no point--when no good seems to come of it.
One of the things I love about God is that he makes the sufferings of his children work for them. The Bible says in Romans 8:28, “We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him.”
Think of it, God guarantees that even your hardships will make your life better in the end!
