The Power of ReflectionSample
Reflecting On Reflection
Ready:
“… let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” – Romans 12:2
Set:
Considering the speed at which we live today, the actual act of pausing to reflect on anything—for any amount of time—has become a lost art. When was the last time you paused, quieted your mind and heart, and truly reflected on something? I know in the busyness of my life, I have to be intentional to make sure those times actually happen.
Whether it’s the end of a year or season, or the start of another, it’s natural for us to reminisce about the past. If you find yourself in that mode right now, I want to encourage you to go even deeper in that reflecting. Think about how you’ve grown, and how you’ve changed in your faith through different experiences of the past.
In doing that, may that reflecting become an inspiration behind a new habit of contemplation in your life. Whether it’s once per year, month, week, day or hour, it’s a worthwhile exercise to try it—to take time to look inward and get to the root of your thoughts and emotions.
From a spiritual perspective, those times of reflection and meditation could be the key to unlocking a deeper, more transformational relationship with Jesus Christ. As we quiet our hearts and minds, He will be faithful to reveal Himself to us in ways we can’t imagine. – Clay Meyer
Go:
1. When was the last time you slowed down, paused and reflected on something?
2. How did that time spent in reflection and meditation impact you?
3. How can you carve out time in your schedule today or this week or month to reflect and connect with God?
Workout:
Joshua 1:8; Romans 12:2; Ephesians 5:1-2
Overtime:
Lord, You know my heart and you know my schedule, life and priorities. I pray that You would continue to reveal yourself to me and develop a desire within me to purposefully seek You, make time for You, and pause to reflect upon Your goodness and blessings in my life. Amen.
