Paul says he delivered what was of first importance. What did he consider first importance? Christ died for sins, was buried and was raised again on the third day. So often in my thoughts of the gospel I stop at the thought of Christ dying for my sins. I rarely go on to the thoughts that He was buried and raised again. But those two thoughts are crucial to the gospel and the hope we have in the gospel.

Like it says in verse 14, if Christ has not been raised then our faith is in vain, it is useless. If Christ did not rise from the dead, then there is no victory over sin and death. If there is no victory over sin and death then we cannot be free from the power of sin and we have no hope. But He did rise again! Therefore, we can be free from the power of sin in our lives and we can stand before God as blameless, trusting in what Christ accomplished on our behalf.
