So Be It

DAY 31 OF 50

A fellow pastor once shared these words of wisdom. “Why worry when you can pray?” Sounds simple doesn’t it? Still, there are seasons of worry- some very brief, others prolonged over many days. The mind has the capacity to create feature-length films about all the things that might happen, thus creating a mound of worry.

With so much to worry about, think about these two things. First, most of the things we worry about never happen. Secondly, worry never leads to our most productive days. Can you remember a day where you reported so much anxiety that you delivered more productivity than Amazon? So here is a formula for worry, straight out of the pages of Philippians. “Be anxious for nothing, pray about everything and be thankful for anything.”

Almighty God, you are my fortress, my help and my refuge. No detail of my life has skipped your notice. Today I cast all my fears and my anxiety towards heaven, knowing you are my provider where I need provision, my comforter where I need calm, and my banner where I need courage. Grant me peace, which transcends my understanding, and guard my heart when I am tempted to worry. In your precious name I pray, Amen and So Be It.
