Wiser and Happier: Devotions From Time of GraceSample
Happily Ever After
King Solomon, the chief author of the book of Proverbs, had quite a bit to say about marriage. No surprise there--he believed in marriage to such an absurd extent that he acquired seven hundred wives. His reckless and insatiable appetite for building a harem proved to be his undoing though. First Kings chapter 11 sadly relates that his heart was no longer fully devoted to the Lord his God and that he did evil in the eyes of the Lord.
But his proverbs on marriage are spot-on. They include dozens of sharp observations on human sexuality and the relationship between men and women. Let’s take a walk through Proverbs’ provocative and rather frank teachings about sex, love, and marriage.
