Trusting and Believing: Devotions From Time of GraceSample
What Has God Done for Me?
He talks to you
Can you imagine trying to assemble an automobile without an instruction manual? Absurd. Impossible. Can you imagine trying to figure out the meaning of the universe and the meaning of you without blueprints from God? Absurd. Impossible.
One of God’s most precious gifts to you, a gift that shows how highly he values you, is his Word, the Bible. He wants you to know what he’s like, what he’s done, how he thinks, how he talks. St. Paul praised the Christians in Thessalonica because in hearing Paul’s proclamation of the Word, they recognized that they were hearing the voice of God himself: “When you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is at work in you who believe” (1 Thessalonians 2:13).
It is a sign of how dear you are to God that he took such elaborate pains to prepare a document that explains everything you need to know about life on earth and life in heaven. And guess what--it’s now available in English! All you have to do is read it.
