Why Sacrifice? Embracing God’s Promises For Joy And Fruitfulness

DAY 12 OF 14

Fruitfulness

When God made Creation, He rejoiced in it. He knew that the fruit of His labor was good.

As His children, we also are called to bear good fruit in our lives. In fact, our fruitfulness glorifies God and identifies us as Christ’s disciples.

We bear fruit by following the example of Jesus. He stayed close to the Father and depended on Him for guidance, provision, and protection. In the same way, we are to stay near to Jesus and abide in Him. Through intimacy and dependence on Christ, we will bear much fruit.

Jesus’ final act of submission and sacrifice—the laying down of His own life—bears the great fruit of salvation for all who call upon His name.

We model Christ’s example by sacrificing our lives to glorify His name. For when we choose to die to ourselves and live for Christ, we bear much fruit.

  • What have you sacrificed in your life for the sake of God’s Kingdom? How has that sacrifice increased your intimacy and dependence on Christ?
  • In what areas of your life could you be bearing more fruit? Ask God to lead you into greater fruitfulness.
