Kingdom Rules (Part 1)—Disciple Makers Series #4Sample
Beatitudes—Heart Responses
These three (and the next two) are a little different than the first four. These represent heart responses—show mercy, think with purity and be peaceful people at heart. When you let your mind rest, what thoughts come to you? Are they thoughts that play back problems? how you will answer back to someone? or how you were not treated properly by someone? Then our heart needs some work to be kingdom people!!
Think about ways to release mercy to others—giving them good things they do not deserve.
Thing about God and His goodness to you—focus on Him and His heart.
Think about ways to release peace in difficult situations.
Now you have a kingdom heart. Now the blessings of God can be yours.
Time to Pray
Father, I need help here. I need to let my heart focus on good things when I am at rest. It is not easy. This world and people around me give great reasons to have a frustrated heart, a heart that thinks about ways to deal with the challenges they give. I want Your heart for them and the challenges they bring. A heart that releases mercy and blessing to people who do not deserve it, a pure heart and a heart that loves peace in every situation. Strengthen my heart today to think this way, have my mind go this way when I rest and a mind that works hard at these everyday. In Jesus’ name Amen.

About this Plan
Matthew writes to God’s people and walks them on a journey that will take them from where they are to be Disciple Makers. This is the 4th of 27 devotional plans walking us through the book of Matthew. Jesus describes His Kingdom rules. Some we know well—and may have memorised a few. These Kingdom rules are wonderful, challenging, and at times impossible. Let them reveal God’s heart to us.
