All Nations Shall Find Peace From the God of Jacob

Reflection

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end…” - Isaiah 9:6-7a, ESV

The reign of Christ is like no other.

Under no other name can nations put down their weapons and wars cease. Under no other name can fear be obsolete. No other ruler gathers the outcasts and the injured, brings in the weak and makes them strong. No other makes peace that is everlasting.

Only Jesus.

Only Jesus brings peace to the warring heart. Only the Messiah can replace fear with assurance, turn sorrow into joy.

And this is not just future glory that He brings! This peace can be ours now. The truth of grace and salvation, the reality of the babe in the manger who would become the man on the cross, it is true for us now, Sisters. It is true today.

Yes, there is a day coming when all the knees will bow. There is a day coming when all mouths will confess and cry out that Jesus is the Lord Most high. And that peace will be real, too.

But today, for me and for you and for right now, we have not just a promise to cling to - we have the fulfillment of that promise. We have the Prince of Peace who was born, the Mighty God who became man, the Everlasting Father who made himself like one of His created beings so that He could bring us home.

Hallelujah, what a Savior!

Prayer

Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the power and the kingdom and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
