Kong Hee: Abba - The Father Of Love

DAY 2 OF 5

Being Grounded In The Father

King David grew up in a very lonely environment. As the youngest of seven brothers, David didn’t receive a lot of attention around his house. In fact, he barely ever saw his house because his father gave him the lonely job of tending to the family’s herds. David spent most of his days and nights roaming the fields with the sheep. Compared to his brothers, David was an outcast!

Many times, those whose families have shoved them aside tend to have bitter, angry, or fearful attitudes towards life. However, David drew strength and joy from knowing where and to whom he belonged. Despite being ignored by his father and brothers, and forced to live the lonely life of a sheep herder, David had a remarkably hopeful spirit.

David wrote in Psalms 68:5-6, “A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy habitation. God sets the solitary in families.” David’s entire identity was grounded in knowing that he belonged to God!

Your heavenly Father’s arms are always open, waiting to accept you into his family. Everyone has experienced pain or disappointments. Everyone has known loneliness. Knowing that God is your Abba Father breathes life into your soul, life which pours out onto the people around you like a river.

Prayer for the day:

Today, thank God for never leaving you alone. Pray that you will be able to rest in His arms, and ask Him to help you be an encouragement to others who are lonely and need to know Him as their Father.
