Daily Encouragement

DAY 262 OF 366

The vision was seen by one man. “during the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia . . . ” It is often so. However, it’s not always a man - it may be a woman! Behind the beginnings of more than one missionary society there has been a woman’s vision. One thinks of Amy Carmichael and others. Africa Evangelical Fellowship has its own Mrs. Osborn-Howe.

The vision was preceded by much uncertainty and by guidance that seemed strangely negative. It came literally when they reached the end of the road.

The vision was accepted by the believers - “We got ready at once.” Acceptance by the body of Christ is a proof of the authenticity of a vision. There can be exceptions to this general rule, if the body is sick! Nevertheless, acceptance by the body is important for the effective working - out of the vision.

The vision was acted upon as coming from God - “ . . . concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.” This was an ideal conclusion. In response to the vision, God’s call to evangelize was heeded and bookings were made for Macedonia!
