Daily Encouragement

DAY 100 OF 366

God can act quickly on behalf of his people. Such was the case here. Just sixteen days after Hezekiah began to purify the temple, its whole service was re-established. The king and the people were amazed at what the Lord had done, and particularly “because it was done so quickly.”

So it is when God sends revival. Characteristic of every genuine revival is the conviction that it is God’s work and an amazement at the suddenness of what is accomplished. Says Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, “men have testified that they have learned more of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ in an hour in a meeting during a revival than they had learned in a life-time of Bible study and reading theology.”

So it will be at the coming of the Lord: “we will all be changed - in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed” (1 Cor. 15:51-52).

Such knowledge of the living God should encourage many a Hezekiah to open the doors of the temple (2 Chron. 29:3), many a saint to persevere in prayer for revival and all God’s people “to wait for his Son from heaven” (1 Thes. 1:10).
