God in 60 Seconds - Basic Bible BitesSample

OLD BOOK
I bought an original mid century cabinet for my study recently, lovely little light timber inlays.
And inside one of the drawers a fifty year old copy ofThe Hobbit.
Fragile, well read, slightly dogged eared, but lovely.
An unexpected treasure.
My copy of the Hobbit isn’t worth the price of a field, but there was a joy in finding it.
A little joy – but a joy nonetheless.
Jesus likes his kingdom to an unexpected treasure.
“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field." - Matthew 13:44 (ESV)
That a man finds in a field, in his joy he sells everything and buys that field.
Jesus is saying it’s worth giving up everything.
For his kingdom, not simply because it’s a treasure, but because it’s a joyful treasure!
Perhaps like with my book in my cabinet.
You might be looking for a worthwhile treasure.
Jesus promises that if you’re looking for him.
He’s a treasure that will bring you great joy God in 60 Seconds - For more space to think and talk about God and the Bible go to thirdspace.org.au
