Unexpected Jesus

DAY 5 OF 15

Jesus, our Good Shepherd, not only cares for His people, but His people also know His voice. Today, take intentional steps to listen better—to God’s Word, to others, and to God’s Spirit.

1.Listen to God’s Word

We don’t often think of reading the Bible as an act of kindness toward others, but it is. Scripture shapes us to reflect God’s character. This week, we’ve discovered unexpected truths about Jesus. As we see how He lived, it transforms how we respond to the world around us.
Action: Make a plan to engage more deeply with God’s Word. Ask, What is Jesus teaching me? How can I live it out?

2.Listen to Others

Too often, we spend conversations preparing our next response instead of truly listening. One of the greatest gifts we can offer someone is our full attention.
Action: In your next conversation, practice intentional listening. Instead of focusing on what you will say next, ask thoughtful questions to go deeper. Before you speak, pray that God will guide your listening. Afterward, reflect: How was this conversation different? Look for ways to carry this habit forward.

3.Listen to God’s Spirit

As believers, God’s Spirit dwells in us. He speaks as we read Scripture, but also through everyday moments—a sudden urge to call a friend, a prompting to pray for someone, or a nudge toward an act of kindness.
Action: Spend five minutes in silent prayer this week, simply asking God to speak. It may feel like an eternity, but trust that He is near.

About this Plan

Unexpected Jesus

Jesus didn’t show up the way people expected. He touched outcasts, embraced the lonely, and led with kindness instead of power. In this 3-week (5-day week) journey, discover the surprising ways Jesus meets us in our struggles—and how His love can transform the parts of us we hide. If you've ever felt unseen or uncertain about your place in faith, this is for you.
