8 Weeks to Spiritual Fitness

DAY 8 OF 57

The People of God

God has called us to worship Him as a people, as an assembled congregation. He wants people who will represent Him as a witness to the world. At First Dallas, our doctrinal statement defines a local church as a group of “baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel, governed by His laws, and exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word.” We are a people set apart for God’s use, called to carry out His will in every area of our lives. Together, we look forward to eternal life with Him, where we will worship with believers from every tribe, tongue, people, and nation.

The focus of your training plan for this week is understanding what it means to be part of the people of God.

Prayer Priorities For the Week

Prayer is how we make our requests known to God. It is also how He aligns our hearts with His will. Determine at least three things that you want to pray for this week, then pray for these requests daily.

  1. I am praising and thanking God for:
  2. I am asking God for myself:
  3. I am asking God on behalf of others:

After you read today's passage, write down what you learned, how you will apply it, and why this truth is important.

About this Plan

8 Weeks to Spiritual Fitness

Are you looking for a fresh start in your relationship with Christ? That is what 8 Weeks to Spiritual Fitness can be for you. This devotional encourages you to practice five spiritual habits—gathering for worship, reading Scripture, praying, giving, and sharing your faith. As we are “strengthened with power through his Spirit” in our “inner being,” God can then “do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us” (Ephesians 3:16, 20). This is for our good and His glory.
