Skills for Managing EmotionsSample

Once a friend joked, "Why pray when you can worry?" While worry can make us feel miserable, the truth is that we worry because we think that by worrying, we will be in control. The false sense of control can be attractively deceptive. The lie is believing that if we ruminate on the object of our worry and consider every possible angle to avoid a potential catastrophe, we will have a sense of control. Worry will always move us out of the present moment, keeping us from experiencing people who love us, including Jesus. May you trust that Jesus is adequate to help you through any situation. As you grab his nail-scarred hand and walk with him, let the feeling of his scar remind you he would rather die than live without you.
