A Minute For Mommy

DAY 6 OF 31

God's Peace Is Waiting for You

My husband and I had the most wonderful vacation in Maui, Hawaii - by far the most beautiful place I have ever visited. As I sat on my balcony each morning, I was in awe of the flowers so brilliant with color and the ocean so beautiful and full of life. I could see mountains and trees and the most amazing sky, especially at night. Being in this special place, I couldn't help but think of God and the detailed steps he took to create this magnificent world we live in. I felt so blessed to be able to experience his creation. As I sat there amongst such beauty, my heart was full of joy and appreciation and peace.

I realize now how little time I take to pause to admire God's beautiful artwork. I don't look up at the stars and watch how they twinkle. I don't sit on the grass and just allow the sun to hit my face and feel its warmth. I forget to notice the beautiful wildflowers on the side of the road just dancing in the wind as I drive by each day.

We all have busy schedules. We have shopping to do and meals to prepare. We have carpool duty and soccer practice. We have doctors' appointments and church activities. But is anything more important than appreciating God's creation? How often do I miss the peace God wants me to enjoy because I fail to make time to experience God's beauty - pure and divine?

Take time this week to notice the amazing creation surrounding you. Walk barefoot through a park, feeling the grass between your toes. Watch a sunset, noticing the beautiful colors illuminating the sky. Go for a swim in a lake, feeling the water refresh your whole body. Take time to enjoy all that God has created. Don't wait another minute. God's peace is waiting for you.
