For New Followers of Jesus - 30 Bible StudiesSample

Bible Study 5/30
Become part of a faith community
Key principle
It is essential that we join a church so that we can have fellowship with other Christians. This would include house churches, Bible Study groups, etc. As Christians, we are part of the Body of Christ. We need fellowship with other Christians because we can support one another, learn from one another, correct one another, pray together, read and understand the Bible together, and encourage one another to obey God’s commands.
Key Scripture passages
Acts 2:42; 46-47 (BSB)- They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer… With one accord, they continued to meet daily in the temple courts and to break bread from house to house, sharing their meals with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
Hebrews 10:25 (BSB) - Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
2 Questions
1. Acts 2:42, 46-47 - This passage describes how the first church, which was formed on Pentecost Sunday, functioned. What would you say are the outstanding characteristics?
2. Hebrews 10:25 – Why do you think the Holy Spirit ensured this verse is in the Bible?
2 Things to remember
Which two things stand out to you, and what do you need to remember?
1 Practical thing to do
Obedience: Because God is speaking here, we must respond: What must I do to obey what He says in these Scripture passages? What do I sense the Holy Spirit is saying and asking me to do? What must change in my life? How can I apply and integrate these truths in my life? How can I be a blessing to other people around me? Decide on one thing to do (within the next 48 hours) or to change.
Take time to pray
Worship God because He is righteous. Take time to confess your sin. Do you know someone who is ill? Pray for that person – take your family with you or ask one or two friends to accompany you. Pray for the salvation of people.

About this Plan

Every day, people come to Jesus and start to follow Him. Many of them do not receive follow-up. Nobody is taking care of them. Nobody helps them grow in their relationship with Jesus or explains to them what it means to be a follower of Jesus. Short: Nobody is discipling them. This plan will help you to that with young converts.
