Jesus in the StormSample

Jesus in the Storm

DAY 1 OF 3

Storms Are Revealing

Storms don’t just shake us—they show us. They uncover the unseen foundations that our faith is built upon and bring the silent stories we’ve been telling ourselves to the surface. If you lean in and listen, every storm carries two powerful invitations:

  • To examine what you’ve been standing on.
  • To examine the narrative shaping your soul.

Storms don’t just test your faith—they reveal it.

In the heart of the storm, the disciples were drowning in more than just water—they were drowning in fear. Mark 4:35-41 paints a vivid picture: the boat was taking on water, waves were crashing in, and Jesus… was asleep. But His rest wasn’t neglect—it was a revelation. His peace was the proof they were safe. Yet the disciples couldn’t see it as their eyes were fixed on the boat, not on Jesus. We always focus on what we put our faith in. They trusted the vessel more than the One who created the sea. So when the boat started failing, so did their faith. Added to that was the story they told themselves in the chaos, “Jesus doesn’t care. We’re going to drown.” But the truth was lying right beside them… peacefully asleep. Because peace isn’t found in the boat, it’s found in the One in the boat with you.

The question—“Who is this man?”—isn’t just theological, it’s deeply personal. (Mark 4:41) The disciples didn’t yet realise who was in the boat with them. If they had truly known—really known— that the One beside them held the winds in His whisper and the waves in His hands, their fear might have bowed to faith. Knowing Jesus is in the boat changes how you ride the storm. When you know Him, peace isn't a possibility—it's a promise. His presence doesn’t mean the absence of waves, but it guarantees peace within the chaos.

Reflection:

  • What lie narratives are you wrestling with in your storm?
  • What are you focusing on when the waves crash?

Prayer Action:

Invite Jesus to shine His truth into the places where fear has written the script. Ask Him to expose the lies you've unknowingly agreed with—and replace them with His voice's clarity, comfort, and confidence. Remember, it is the truth that sets us free.

Peace isn’t passive; it's rooted in presence. Therefore, remind yourself daily: Jesus is in this boat with me.

About this Plan

Jesus in the Storm

Storms are inevitable—but they are also invitations to transformation. In this 3-day devotional journey, you will journey through three different storm stories in Scripture that reveal powerful truths about Jesus, expose the condition of our faith, and awaken fresh hope. Each day seeks to bring revelation through these storm stories and unpacks the internal narratives, mental health implications, and spiritual revelations that help us weather life’s fiercest tempests. Learn to anchor your soul, steady your mind, and strengthen your faith—because peace isn’t the absence of storms but the presence of a Saviour.
