Wisdom in the WordSample

Wisdom begins not in books or experiences, but in reverence for the Lord. This fear isn’t terror—it’s a deep, reverent awe of God’s holiness, power, and authority. True wisdom flows from recognizing God's sovereignty and aligning one’s life accordingly.
Wisdom is not simply acquired through education or life lessons; it is a divine gift. God Himself is the source, offering both moral clarity and spiritual insight to those who seek Him. This reminds us that wisdom is more than cleverness or logic—it is understanding life from God’s perspective.
The danger comes when we begin to trust our own insight more than God's instruction. It’s easy to become self-reliant, thinking we have the answers, but this mindset distances us from the very source of true wisdom. When we elevate our own reasoning above God’s truth, we step out of alignment with His will.
Thankfully, God invites us to ask for wisdom, and He gives it generously. There is no scolding, no hesitation. He delights in giving wisdom to those who desire it for His glory. This is not about intellect; it’s about humility, dependence, and a heart ready to follow.
The beginning of wisdom, then, is surrender. It starts when we acknowledge God as the ultimate authority and seek His direction in every aspect of life. That posture of reverence and trust becomes the foundation upon which a truly wise life is built.
Respond to God’s Word:
Take five quiet minutes today to humbly ask God for wisdom in one specific area of your life—your family, a decision, or a relationship. Write down what you hear or sense from the Lord in that time.
Prayer:
Lord, I humble myself before You. Teach me to fear You rightly, to seek You daily, and to walk in the wisdom that comes from Your word. I ask for Your wisdom today—for decisions, relationships, and challenges. I trust that You give generously. Amen.
