Even Still

DAY 9 OF 28

The Bible is full of really important stories. But sometimes when we read these stories of people who lived such a long time ago, we're not sure how their stories relate to our lives today. So let's take one of their stories and see how it relates to your story, and God's story too.

THEIR STORY

Take some notes about the story in today's passage of Scripture.

  • Who is this story about? (There might be more than one person!)
  • What happens to them?
  • What do they learn?
  • How is God involved in their story?

YOUR STORY

Now think about your story.

  • Who did you relate to most in the story you just read and why?
  • Have you ever experienced anything similar to the story you just read?
  • How is your story different from the story you just read?
  • Have you ever had to learn a similar lesson?
  • Has God ever been involved in your story in a similar way?

GOD'S STORY

So what is the story God is trying to tell, both in the story you just read and in the story of your life right now? You can find it if you look for the ways your stories overlap.

NEXT STEPS

We all have situations we consider to be less than ideal. As you read this passage, what were some that came to mind?

Out of those listed, are there any you or someone close to you is experiencing right now? How might God's goodness transform your perspective of those circumstances?

Read Matthew 5:3–10 again, and choose the verse that best reflects your current circumstances. Talk to God about your circumstances and ask for wisdom to see how God's goodness responds to your need or weakness.

About this Plan

Even Still

When life feels dark—like nothing is going right and nothing ever will—it’s easy to feel lost and hopeless. But just like the sun, moon, and stars light up the darkest sky, God’s light shines in our lives even in the hardest moments because God’s presence carries us, no matter what we face. For the next 28 days, we’ll explore how God meets us in our pain and brings light to guide us through. We’ll learn that even when we lose hope, God is closer than we know.
