Reading the Bible can feel intimidating sometimes. But one simple way of studying Scripture is called S.O.A.P. It stands for "Scripture," "Observation," "Application," and "Prayer." We'll show you how—it's easy!
S: Scripture
If you haven't already, read today's passage of Scripture. Then summarize it in your own words.
O: Observation
Read 2 Corinthians 4:16–18 again.
- What message of hope is found in this passage?
- Where does it say this hope can be found?
- What questions do you have?
A: Application
What's one way you're struggling to find long-lasting hope right now?
What would it look like for you to look at a bigger, more eternal picture in this situation?
What do you think could change if you tried to look at things from God's perspective rather than focusing on what is temporary?
P: Prayer
Spend some time in prayer about a situation where you're discouraged. It could be a broken relationship, a goal that feels unattainable, or something else. Ask God to provide you with a bigger perspective that leads to hope. Then, say thank you for how God is working behind the scenes even when you don't see it yet.

About this Plan

When life feels dark—like nothing is going right and nothing ever will—it’s easy to feel lost and hopeless. But just like the sun, moon, and stars light up the darkest sky, God’s light shines in our lives even in the hardest moments because God’s presence carries us, no matter what we face. For the next 28 days, we’ll explore how God meets us in our pain and brings light to guide us through. We’ll learn that even when we lose hope, God is closer than we know.
