The Foundation of Hope

Hope is rooted in faith. It’s the confident expectation that God will fulfill His promises, even when we cannot see the path ahead. Just as a tree's roots anchor it during storms, our faith in God’s goodness and sovereignty anchors our hope. God owns hope and He gave it to us by way of the Holy Spirit. But it is attached to our faith. Do you believe that God will come through for you? Do you expect for God to work it out for you? One sure thing that we can hold on to, is that if God said it, He will do it. So, you can be confident in the state of expectation. There is a saying, "If He did it before, He can do it again. Same God right now. Same God back then." This simple, yet powerful, statement rings true in all of our lives if we look back to reflect on His works, we can be encouraged to activate our faith in heightened times when circumstances try to deter us from what we know to be true. This response is a form of resistance, but in a positive way. It is the decision to turn our hearts and trust to God.

Lord, help me to deepen my faith in You. When I struggle to see the path ahead, remind me of Your promises and give me the confidence to trust You and Your plan. Amen.
