A storm of grace

Jonah’s rebellion didn’t just impact him – it put an entire crew in danger. When we resist God’s direction, the consequences often affect those around us. Yet notice something incredible: God’s storm wasn’t meant for destruction, but redirection. Sometimes, storms in our lives are not punishments but acts of grace, shaking us awake to His purposes.

Interestingly, while the sailors are desperately praying to their gods, Jonah – the prophet – remains silent and asleep. Isn't it true that when we are upset with God, we often stop praying? Instead of turning to the One who can calm the storm, we withdraw, allowing our disobedience to create distance between us and Him.

Are you in the middle of a storm right now? Could it be that God is trying to get your attention? Instead of resisting, take a moment to seek Him. His correction is never about condemnation, but an invitation to return to Him.

Prayer: Father, thank You for Your grace, even in life’s storms. Help me recognise when You are calling me back and help me turn toward You in obedience. Amen.
