The PsalmsSample

DAY 4 – PSALMS 19-24
“Who is this King of glory?
The Lord, strong and mighty,
the Lord, mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O gates!
And lift them up, O ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts,
He is the King of glory.”
Psalm 24:8-10
In today’s reading, we see the prophecy of Christ’s suffering in Psalm 22, the Lord, our Shepherd in Psalm 23, and end with Jesus, the King of glory, in Psalm 24.
We cannot ignore the vast array of seasons, contrasting attributes, and multifaceted roles of Jesus. He pioneered the path of suffering while simultaneously conquering death. He is a faithful, gentle Shepherd, but also a righteous, just, and glorious King. As we endure this life, we must remember that above all, He is victorious. He is strong and mighty, mighty in every battle. The last time many physically saw Jesus, He was a suffering servant hanging on a cross, but He will return to Jerusalem as the King of glory, riding a white horse, wearing many crowns, with a robe dipped in blood.
Prayer: Jesus, lifter of my head, would You come? Come and open the ancient gates of every heart, city, nation, and people group, and COME IN! We need You. We desire You. Return to us, Lord Jesus! Amen.
About this Plan

The Psalms teach us to pray, worship, and be honest before God, expressing every joy, struggle, and question. They shape our faith, pointing to Jesus, who prayed and fulfilled them. Embracing them daily cultivates a life of worship, rooted in God’s Word. In this 27-day plan, we’ll journey through how to navigate both the trials and triumphs of life while awaiting our Lord’s return. Each day includes a short devotional, 2-3 key verses, a thought to ponder, and a closing prayer.
