Have you ever heard someone say, “Read the room”? It means knowing what’s appropriate to say in certain situations. Now, imagine someone telling you to feel joy while going through something challenging. That might sound strange, but that’s exactly what the writer of James tells us.
Why? Tough times test your faith and help you grow stronger. The next time you face a challenge, try to “read the room” spiritually. Instead of focusing only on the struggle, ask, “What is God teaching me through this? How can I trust Him more right now?” Joy doesn’t mean ignoring the hard stuff—it’s about believing that God is using it to shape you into who He’s called you to be.
Today, ask God to help you find joy no matter what challenges you’re facing.
