Peace in Times of Pain

DAY 3 OF 5

Pain often brings anxiety, fear, and a sense of helplessness. When trials come, it’s easy to feel like we are carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders. But Scripture reminds us that we are not meant to bear our burdens alone.

God calls us to surrender our worries, trusting that He will sustain us. This is not always easy, but when we fully rely on Him, we find peace even in the hardest seasons.

George Müller, a man known for his unwavering faith, lived this truth. He founded orphanages in England, caring for thousands of children without ever asking for financial support—he only prayed. One morning, the orphanage had no food. The children sat at the breakfast table with empty plates, but instead of worrying, Müller led them in prayer, thanking God for the meal He would provide. Moments later, a baker knocked on the door with fresh bread, saying he felt led to bake extra. Soon after, a milkman’s cart broke down outside, and he donated the milk before it spoiled.

Müller had peace in the face of need because he cast his cares on God, trusting in His provision.

The same is true for us. The enemy wants us to be consumed by anxiety, but God calls us to resist fear and stand firm in faith. He promises that after we have suffered a little while, He will restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish us (1 Peter 5:10).

Are you holding onto anxieties today? Give them to the Lord. He cares for you, and He is faithful to provide.

Prayer:

Lord, I bring my burdens to You. I’m choosing to not carry them alone. Help me to rely on Your strength and power. Fill my heart with Your peace, knowing that You have cared for me and are caring for me. Strengthen me in this time of pain, and remind me that You are in control. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
