Whatever Comes

This verse was God’s promise to David when he chose him to be the king of Israel. You have hindsight to know the mistakes and troubles that David went through. In Scripture you can read David’s story of blessing, sin, consequence, joy, battles, fear, and love. By knowing the beginning and end of his story, you can clearly see how God equipped David long before he walked through any difficulties.

David went through a lot in his life, and the truth of this verse prevailed. God gave him grace and sustained him no matter what came. He can and will do the same thing for you. Remember that God sees each of your days clearly. He knows exactly how your life will unfold, and he knows how to prepare you for it. Some day you will see all the intricate ways God orchestrated your life, but for now you have to rely on faith.

God is always working. He never sleeps, and he doesn’t leave his children to flounder in the face of trials. There are likely things in your life that are preparing you for battles you don’t have an inkling of yet. As you rely on him, you can trust that he knows exactly what he is doing. He has promised to give you grace to sustain you no matter what comes your way. This means that in every circumstance, he will empower and equip you.

Let this verse be your promise. Trust God to shower you with grace that will sustain you through everything you face. Whether you are exhausted from weeping or you feel emboldened to face the day, God is your refuge. The extravagance of his grace doesn’t diminish based on your emotions. No matter how you feel, the truth remains steady. God will sustain you if you call out to him.
