In the 7th century, the Islamic Rashidun Caliphate seized control of Egypt from the Christian Byzantine Empire. The country that once led the spread of the Gospel grew hostile to Christianity.

For centuries, Egyptian Coptic Christians have faced persecution, forcing them to leave their faith, pay a fine, or be killed. Christians in Egypt are still paying the price for their faith, yet Egypt is opening up to the power of the Holy Spirit.

Today, Jesus is revealing Himself in dreams and visions, and Egyptians are open to hearing the Good News. And there is no better time to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to this beautiful nation. Even though statistics show that over 90% of the 106,000,000 population are Muslims, the reality is many are hearing and coming to the saving knowledge of the Truth.

Prayer Points to Consider:

• Pray for a stable and trustworthy government to act in the interest of all its people and a calming of the political unrest Egypt is experiencing.
• Declare Jesus’ name over all His believers, speaking a hedge of protection for them, emotional stability and healing, and for His supernatural love and forgiveness for those who oppress the Gospel. Praying especially for the Coptic Church to walk in Holy Spirit fullness, gifts, and fruit.
• Pray for Christian laborers, workers, and ministries in the country who live with the reality of Islam. May they not grow weary but be empowered with Spirit discernment and wisdom to reach those whom the Lord is reaching among unbelievers and seeing whole families come to Christ.
• Pray for children and young people who are forced into labor and sex trafficking to be rescued, delivered, and loved into God’s Kingdom. Speak an end to this travesty in the authority of Jesus’ Name, also asking for hands and feet to reach and rescue them.
• Pray for those who are most vulnerable and for the safety of tourists who continue to visit the country. Ask for those believers who travel here to carry His heart in prayer for Egypt, calling those He desires to stay and minister to have His courage to make it happen.

Dear Heavenly Father...I worship and adore You ________ (take time to speak words of praise). As I wait upon You to pray for Egypt, I ask for the Holy Spirit’s wisdom and discernment to lead me. For so long, Christians have been persecuted in this country. Yet, in the Name of Jesus, I pray for a miraculous reversal of this hostility. What seems impossible is not impossible for You! I know that many are searching for Truth here, and I pray that You would stir in them an insatiable desire for You until they come to the cross. I pray for Your covering, empowering, and leading of all who call upon Your name to reach those around them. And I ask for the safety and release for the vulnerable and protection for all who travel there. In the Name of the One and Only, Lord Jesus. Amen!
