3rd Day
How can we continue to walk in the new life that Jesus gave us and be free from the curse of the world?
Yesterday we learned that because of Jesus’ death on the cross, we received salvation, forgiveness, and the redemption of our sins. Before the cross, we as humans suffered unconditionally under the curse of sin. Sin and disobedience were our very nature as human beings. We couldn’t help but sin, it was natural to us. But because Jesus gave us a new life and a new way of life, we need to die to our sin and disobedience on a daily basis.
Paul writes in Romans chapter 6 - 8 that we have received the Holy Spirit of God to help us to no longer walk in sin but to walk in righteousness. We no longer have to walk on ground that is cursed by thorns and thistles, but now we can walk on green pastures and solid ground. Life in Christ promises us a pathway that leads to righteousness and obedience unto God.
God’s law in Deuteronomy says that anyone who hangs on a tree is cursed. That is why Jesus hung on a tree. He became a curse so we can be free from it. Jesus took the penalty for our sins because He knew we were not able to pay for it on our own. God was tired of seeing His children walk around with feet full of thorns and thistles. That is why He made a plan through His only begotten, Jesus Christ to bring us shoes to wear that protect us from the thorns and thistles in life. Jesus gave us a special type of shoe, He gave us the shoes of the Gospel of peace. When we walk in these shoes, the thorns and thistles in life cannot hurt us because we are walking on top of it.
But, that does not mean that God removed the thorns and thistles from this world. It simply means He made a way so that we no longer have to be subject to the curse of sin. If God removed sin from the world after the cross of Jesus, then why is the world in the state that it is in? God didn’t remove the curse from the world, God made a way so that we can be removed from the curse. And that way is Jesus. Jesus Himself said, “I Am The Way”. Through faith in Jesus, we can escape the curse of sin and live free from it
About this Plan

There are so many things that are part of the Christian life, but one of the main subjects of discussion is the reality of righteousness and freedom from sin. In this plan, we will discover what Jesus accomplished on the cross for us. How that can change our lives so we are not only forgiven of our sins but free from the things that once held us captive.
