The Spirit of HeavinessSample

Ashes are a powdery residue left after the burning of a substance. When Jesus set out to give His people beauty for ashes, it meant He was making something appealing out of what was regarded as completely destroyed. Likewise, Christ promises to clothe us in the garment of praise to counteract the spirit of heaviness.
While this action evokes hope for the dispirited and downtrodden, it also encapsulates the true power of praise and worship. Bible scholars say the phrase “garments of praise” is a metaphor for the lightheartedness we experience when we are filled with the joy of the Lord.
In ancient times, a person who was grieving traditionally adorned themselves in sackcloth so their outer appearance could reflect the despair and distress they felt inside. The garment of praise is the opposite of sackcloth; it is a vibrantly colored raiment indicative of celebration.
No matter how tired, weary or overwhelmed you may feel, don't give up or believe the lies of the enemy. With God, there is always hope. (Isaiah 40:30-31)

About this Plan

Although depression has been linked to social factors and genetic makeup, beyond these points exists a negative spiritual force the adversary employs to oppress a person’s body, soul and mind. This plan helps us identify the root spirit behind depression, despair and despondency in the hopes that we can use God's word to break free.
