WHEN SUCCESS & FAILURE ARE LIBERATING

Success and failure will always be a part of life. However, they should never have the power to determine your value. Success and failure are liberating when they no longer determine your worth.

I tell people now that I am a confidently bad speller, a published author and a You Version bible reading plan contributor - talk about liberating. Success and failure are liberating when 'results' no longer have power over you. My dyslexia and inability to spell are not an identity but merely a need for a good editor. The day I separated my identity from the drive for success or the fear of failure, I was free to walk in God's purposes and plans. It freed me to trust His belief in me, which liberated me to run confidently because my self-worth and value were in Him. Success became a celebration of gratitude and failure a platform for learning and growth.

Unhooking myself from the lies behind failure and success started with realising how much my potential was attached to God—to who he says I am, to his belief in me, to his intentional design of me. Only when you align your identity with Him and your worth and value with who Jesus says you are can you begin to walk a life of freedom.

John 8:32 tells us that the "truth" will set us free. So here are three truths to hold onto for today.

1. According to Jeremiah 29:11, the God and creator of this universe has a plan and purpose for your life. This is a mind-blowing revelation of your worth and value. He believes in you and me so much that he made plans for our lives.
2. According to Psalm 139:13 and 16, God created our innermost being and knit us together. His design was so intentional that he wrote about you in a book before he began creating you.
3. According to 1 Corinthians 10:31, whatever we do is for the glory of God, not our value. Our failure is just another opportunity for God to show his faithfulness to us (2 Timothy 2:13). It is not meant to be about us but about Him.

Therefore, the second step to discovering who you are is aligning yourself with God's purposes and plans—aligning yourself with the intentional investment made in planning and creating your life. Your value is in the truth that you are His masterpiece. It is mind-blowingly exciting to live in the slipstream of this revelation. It's liberating.

Only the truth can set us free from the power of lies. The truth is a person—his name is Jesus.
