God's Redemption Story (Revelation)

DAY 11 OF 40

We Don’t Know the Day or Hour - Day 11

The parables of Jesus are confusing to many. While some, like the Parable of the Good Samaritan, have more clear-cut and direct applications, others, like the Parable of the 10 Virgins, can be a bit more of a struggle to understand. We know that the Parable of the 10 Virgins directly references the unexpected timing of Jesus’s return and encourages us to be prepared. We must keep our metaphorical lamps filled with oil so that we can enter the bridegroom’s wedding feast.

The question we must ask ourselves is, what is our oil? How do we best prepare for the return of Christ? While there are general principles here, such as living holy lives and serving the Lord, God may call individuals to additional, specific things. Today, take a few minutes to read through the Parable of the 10 Virgins and ask the Lord to speak to you about what this passage means and how you might apply these truths to your life.
