DAY 2 OF 3

No other god.

“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭20‬:‭3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Who sits upon the throne of your heart? Who do you worship? What do you worship? What do you worry about? What weighs on your heart? Who has rule and authority in your “heart space”?

In the space and place that belongs to God, who shares that intimate space with God our King? What occupies your thoughts? What takes up “worship space”?

When you’re supposed to be worshipping God what “god” are you focused on? What bill are you worried about? What pain are you dealing with? What circumstance are you concerned about? What idol are you exalting over Christ?

When you worry about the cares and troubles of this world—you begin to exalt your cares and concerns to a “god-like” level. When you begin to “worship” or continually meditate on your fears, worries, and concerns you begin to exalt these troubles.

Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭24‬-25 puts it this way, “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?”

You cannot serve God and your worry. You cannot serve God and mammon. You cannot serve God and money. You cannot serve God and things. You cannot serve God and the cares and worries of this world. You cannot worship God and idolize the things of this world.

When you worship the things of this world over worshipping the True and Living King—your heart begins to wander away from Christ. Those whose hearts bow to mammon. Those whose hearts bow to idols. Those whose hearts are given over to other gods, Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭23‬ ‭KJV‬‬ declares, “And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

According to Strong’s Concordance, the Greek word for, ‘knew’ found in Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭23‬ ‭KJV‬‬‬‬, is ‘Ginosko’ (G1097) which means: “to learn to know, come to know, get a knowledge of perceive, feel”

Those who worship and idolize the things of this world—God declares that He never “knew” you. God declares that He never had an intimate relationship with you.

Who has your heart? What has your heart? What’s drawing you away from the True and Living King? Choose to surrender your heart to Him. Choose to bow to His Voice. For you have the ear of the King of all creation. He hears you. He hears your heart. He knows your needs.

In fact, Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭26-33 declares, “Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: and yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God. Seek His Way. Seek Him. Let His Way take priority. Let His Way take precedence. Let Christ lead your heart. Let Christ lead your thoughts. Let Christ rule. Let Christ have dominion. Let Christ have dominion over every aspect of your life.

About this Plan

Thrones by Vance K. Jackson

Vance K. Jackson leads readers in this powerful heart-transforming devotional. When you stand before Christ what will you say? When you stand before His Throne what will you do? When you bow before Him—what will you say to the Creator of Heaven and Earth. For He is the King of kings. He is the Lord of lords. For Heaven is His Throne and the Earth is His footstool. No one outranks Him. No one defeats Him. For He is Holy and there is no one like Him.
