Christmas Miracles

DAY 6 OF 7

Don’t Stop Seeking Him

My prayer is that your Christmas was miraculous and that you will carry the hope of Jesus’ birth with you each and every day. I see the hope of Jesus in the life of my new granddaughters. They are transfixed with the beauty, especially the Christmas lights. May you see the “Light of the World” this Christmas.

I have been searching for my keys all day. I had the keys with me when I arrived at home, but I have been seeking them for several hours, retracing my steps and yet, they are still lost. I have no idea where they went, but because I know they are here somewhere, I will continue to seek them out until they are back in my hands.

The Magi of the Christmas story are an amazing picture of people who refuse to stop seeking for God. Even though they arrive several years after the birth of Jesus, their dogged determination to seek out the King is so inspiring to me. These wise men offer a great sacrifice of comfort, home, time and devotion in order to follow a star that would lead them to the greatest treasure of all time...Jesus.

Matthew 2 tells the story this way:

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem 2 and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” (Matthew 2:1-2, NIV)

I love the pure devotion of the wise men. “We have come to worship…” and even though an evil king tried to use their devotion as a weapon to destroy Jesus, the purity of their call ensured that their mission would be accomplished. The story continues...

After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. (Matthew 2:9-11, NIV)

What can you offer to Jesus today in worship? Can you offer the gold of your time, the sweet-smelling frankincense of your service or the costly myrrh of your generosity? Here is what I know, whatever you offer and give, God will give back in the most amazing act of blessing!

My friend, wise men STILL seek Him. My prayer for you is that you would seek Him with all of your heart. I would love to offer you a Christmas gift of God’s Word today:

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back… (Jeremiah 29:11-14, NIV)

The promise of God is SO precious. When we seek Him, He is found...and just so you know, I found my keys in my car!

Seek Him today. Find Him today. As the hope of Christmas continues to ring in our hearts, let’s continue to follow our Morning Star, Jesus, with all passion and devotion.

Never forget...you are a miracle!

Your friend,

Grant
