Why did the priests die?

Some passages in the Bible are hard to understand. Perhaps these priests were deliberately disrespectful when they offered incense in the tabernacle? In the Old Testament, special safety measures were necessary to approach God – a bit like firefighters wearing protective clothing and equipment. These priests thought they didn’t need all that. It’s a reminder that we can only approach God because of what Jesus has done to give us safe access.
