Genesis 3 might be one of the saddest chapters of scripture. Often, we read through this chapter flippantly, breezing through it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Eve took the fruit. The snake talked. Adam was there. We get it. But pause for a second. This was when sin destroyed what God had intended, and creation fell apart. It was the moment when the two realms (God’s space and man’s space) could no longer overlap, causing us to be separated from our Creator.

All of it is linked to this moment in the garden with Adam and Eve. This is also where spiritual warfare is birthed. The serpent offers Eve a lie and introduces doubt—two of the most useful tactics that Satan has in his tool belt.

We have to pause and reflect on Genesis 3 before moving farther into these conversations because this moment is pivotal for what comes next. Everything Jesus does and says is a response to this moment in time. Why would we need a way back, a bridge to gap the divide? Why would we need to become a “new creation” if the old one was never broken?

Take a minute. What is the hardest part about living in a broken world? Take that before God today in prayer as you read through Genesis 3.
