Day 3: Redesigning Our Rhythm
Our lives are a reflection of our priorities. If success or efficiency are our top priorities, the pace of our days is likely to be hectic and overwhelming. But when God is at the center, the rhythm of life changes from an incessant race to a healthy routine that brings peace.
Many of us feel trapped in unsustainable work routines, but God offers us a different model: a balance between work and rest. In the book of Genesis, we read how God rested after six days of working on Creation and blessed the time that was dedicated to His rest: “And on the seventh day God finished His work that He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work that He had done. So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy” (Genesis 2:2-3).
For many of us, honoring this same rhythm of rest means redefining our priorities. It is an intentional choice to align our lives toward what truly matters: whom we serve, not just what we do. The weekly rest is a way to recognize that we are finite creatures dependent on an infinite God.
A great way to create a rhythm that incorporates intentional time for rest is to start each day by asking a key question: “How can I prioritize time with God today?” Time that recharges you physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Redesigning our rhythm is a daily choice: interrupting work with a prayer, giving thanks in moments of pause, or ending the day with an act of worship. These seemingly simple acts acknowledge that God is in control and bring peace to our days.
Reflective Questions:
- What does my current routine communicate about my priorities?
- What time block can I rest and dedicate to God today?
Prayer: Lord, I want to learn how to live my days according to Your rhythm. Show me how to find a balance between work and rest with You at the center. Help me not to seek perfection in my efforts but peace in Your presence. I recognize that my worth is not measured by what I do but by my identity in You. Amen.

About this Plan

New beginnings often find us filled with enthusiasm and determination, but they can also trap us into frantic rhythms and pressures that, over time, prove to be exhausting. In this plan, we will explore the value of slowing down and discovering how God-guided rest helps us to see His plan more clearly and live aligned with His purpose for us.
